Anon(ymous) Rehearsals Making Huge Progress!
Hello everyone, time for a quick update on my rehearsal process for the show I am currently cast in (which opens May 16th), “Anon(ymous)”.
To catch you up, Anon(ymous) is a contemporary “retelling” of “The Odyssey”, the epic poem. In the play, I am playing the character Mr. Zyclo, which is the play’s version of The Cyclops from “The Odyssey”. The entire play is very stylized and has very vivid imagery and sound. The character of Mr. Zyclo is a one-eyed (an homage to “The Odyssey”) cannibal butcher.
It has been an incredibly fun journey crafting this character thus far, and with so much work yet to be done, and so many more discoveries to be made, I am extremely excited for the show to open!
The way Mr. Zyclo is written is very much in the style of Hannibal Lecter (Silence of the Lambs, etc.) He appears very civilized, to a downright creepy extent. But underneath that exterior is sheer unadulterated evil and malice. Finding and going to that place emotionally and physically has been an extreme challenge thus far in rehearsals, but one that I am thoroughly enjoying!
I truly hope that some of you living in the southern California area will be able to make it to the show, I promise you will not be disappointed in the individual performances, as well as the entire show. All of the production elements are beginning to come together, and the show is going to absolutely blow audiences away both visually and through sound and music as well.
I will be sure to check in again soon with further progress updates on Anon(ymous)
